Step UP to Sport Volunteers
The Step UP to Sport programme aims to increase attitude to learning in Science through application in Sport.The programme focuses on Year 9 pupils across the local area including 10 pupils in each of the 7 schools. The programme involves:
3 in-school workshops:
Various dates and times
Pupils will complete a research project based on developing performance of a school sports team or PE class
Workshop 1: Setting up the research project
Workshop 2: Analyse findings
Workshop 3: Present findings
A visit to the University of Portsmouth
Wednesday 18th April 2018 10am-3pm
An opportunity to explore how sport may be used in other areas of science including a visit to Land Rover BAR, Ben Ainslie’s team for the America’s Cup based in Old Portsmouth
A celebration event at Portsmouth Football Club
(Provisional date 9th May 2018 10am-12pm and 5pm-7pm tbc)
An opportunity to see what Portsmouth Football Club has to offer including a presentation of the pupils’ work and research findings

Great way to develop coaching experience and spread your enjoyment of running to friendly beginners. As well as the aforementioned experience provided, working as a GASA volunteer is a great addition to the CV and provides a route towards a Level One qualification if you intend to go into coaching.
