Enable Ability - Sports Club Volunteer

Enable Ability provides a variety of services (Playschemes, Saturday club & befriending)
for children, young people and adults with a range of disabilities who live in the Portsmouth
area, the PALS project, Hampshire Teenage project, sports club and Advocacy cover some
of South East Hampshire.

Enable Ability’s Sports Club is for young people from Portsmouth aged 5-25 years with mild
to moderate disabilities. The first 90 minutes of the session is made up of various sporting
activities and games, and then it’s into the pool for a swim for the second part of the
session. We run the following activities football, hockey, play, basketball and more.
The role of the Sports Club Volunteers is to help, support and encourage the young people
to take part in sports activities. This role involves supporting the young people but parents
and carers are also encouraged to be as active and involved as possible.

Friday evenings 5.00 – 8.00 during term time. Basic induction training given inc basic
safeguarding/child protection, disability awareness, health & safety. Further training may
be available. Ideally we would like a commitment of at least 3 months, you can commit to
longer if you would like as the longer you do the more you will benefit from the role.

? We will need to carry out a DBS check at the enhanced level
? We require 2 references to be provided on our application form
? Must be available on early Friday evenings during term time
? Willing to help others and get involved
? Strong communication skills
? Reliable and motivated
? Willing to learn new processes
? Confident manner or keen to build this
? Willing to go into the swimming poolor help young people to get changed
? You do not need to be great at sports!
